Yesterday was a good day.
My friend Craig drove me and Petra to the vet (saving me taxi fare there and back) and kitty's leg was x-rayed. The bones have healed so well that it was difficult to see on the x-ray where it had actually happened. The vet is very pleased, but not half as pleased as I am. The confinement has been worth it. The vet also reassured me that her funny back-leg-windmill walk which was freaking me out was just Petra trying to shake the bandage off, and she will not be walking like that for the rest of her life. She's still at the hospital so she can have the pin removed, and hopefully I can bring her home tonight.
In my email there were some possible work leads, and I am meeting a friend on Friday about one of them. Yay my friends! Then I went to the garret to take some ex-work stuff there and tidy it up, because I never have time to tidy stuff when I'm there.
While there,
sharpest_rose texted to remind me we had planned to meet for lunch. Time spent with Mary is *always* time well spent, and we ate and talked and came back to my place and had a cuppa. She accompanied me to the post office to pick up a little thing tim and I ordered on a whim from Cafe Press a few weeks ago. When Petra comes home from the vet she will have a new waterbowl that says "Felines for Obama 08". Tee hee.
I played with my iPod some more, loading up the Galvatrons CD among others, and then I headed off to Dandenong to give a talk at the library. The talk went well, I had fun, some people bought books and I got to talk about Gary and Lissa for a while.
On the way home, I listened at last to the Galvatrons - and it's okay,
jezzabe , you don't owe me a coffee after all. I like them. :-)
It was kind of lonely last night without either Tim or Petra - but they are both coming home soon. There may be work out there for me, which makes me hopeful. My friends and family are magnificent. Whenever I'm falling, there are hands extended everywhere I look to catch me. I think I'm going to go away a meep a little bit in love and gratitude for my life.
